Impact punch-down tools are popular because of their ease of use. They're also sturdy enough to last a lifetime.

We have a vast array of punch-down tools like the Krone Type IDC Punch-Down Tool, the TE (Krone) 2A Insertion Tool with Sensor, the 110 Adjustable Impact Punch-Down Tool, and many more. Whatever your project, our punch-down tools will help you get it done. So whether you are a seasoned pro or a hobbyist looking for your first tool, our selection of impact punch-down tools has you covered.

Most punch-down tools have a handle, an internal spring mechanism, and a removable slotted blade. They are impact-type devices. A punch tool is used by pressing the sharp end on the workpiece and then striking the blunt end with a hammer or mallet. The punch tool's sharp end will cut through the workpiece when the blunt end strikes it. The concept uses impact punch-down tools to force a wire conductor into an IDC (Insulation Displacement Conductor) terminal slot.

The punch-down tool blade is typically used to cut surplus wires while connecting. To do this, the wire to be cut is trapped against a plastic punch block by the punch-down tool's blade's sharp edge. The tool blade must be routinely resharpened or changed if this cutoff feature is commonly used. There are other blades for instruments without sharp edges; these are used to thread wires through slotted posts so they can connect to other slotted posts ("daisy-chained" wiring).
