DVI
Display to PC connectivity cables which are used with video monitors; this includes VGA, DVI, Audio/video input. This is the cable that connects your monitor or HDTV display to your computer's video card and transmits sound from a TV tuner or cable line-out jack.
The DVI cable (Digital Visual Interface) replaces the older standard of analogue graphics connection and can support both digital audio and high-definition television (HDTV). DVI cables are available in different types, including DVI-A (analogue), DVI-D (digital which can be found in both single-link and dual-link formats) as well as DVI-I (also analogue or digital).
DVI is a digital video interface developed by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG). It can support both digital and analogue video signals over one DVI cable and is commonly found on computers, LCD monitors, projectors, and other digital display equipment.
There are five different connector types for DVI: DVI-A (17-pin), DVI-D Single Link (19-pin), DVI-D Dual Link (25-pin), DDI-I Single Link (23-pin) and DVWI Dual Link (29-pin).
With so many DVI cables on the market, it can be hard to tell which one is best for your needs. Some have 17 pins while others have 31- a total dependent on the digital transmission required by your PC and monitor. If you're using an analogue only monitor there are also DVI cables available in DVIII format. If you have an NVIDIA based graphics card with two ports that support both VGA and DVI, then you'll be able to use them at the same time.
